Description:

Wreck Simulation to predict the point of failure on the work roll

WRECK SIMULATION

A model was created to simulate the large loading that occurs when a wreck occurs during the cold rolling process. The following images represent the stresses and deflections produced in this situation. The model was subject to both 36-in and 12-in wide wreck simulations with loads up to 1200-tons acting on the roll necks, achieving stresses as high as 200 ksi.

Cold Rolling Mill Model

A model of a rolling mill containing up to 5 rolling stands and predicting optimal operating variables ranging from rolling loads to speed limits is available to apply to your own mill's setup.  Click on the picture to the left to learn more.
